Prophetic Art

 Prophetic Art is a personal revelation from the Holy Spirit expressed through the artist’s imaginative and technical skill for the purpose of edification, encouragement, consolation, conviction & revelation to the Body of Christ. Prophetic Art is a message from God through visual imagery which depicts God’s words; be they photography, drawing, sculpture, painting or any other kind of artwork that’s created with a Kingdom purpose.

What makes this form of art prophetic is that the inspiration for it comes from the Holy Spirit and that God speaks through the artist’s imaginative and technical skill. It should always be a blessing to the viewer, as that’s the essence for all prophecy - 1Cor.14:3. Sometimes Holy Spirit will use this art to release healing or power or emotional freedom in a way that spoken words can not. It can bring an awareness of beauty or awe that penetrates deeply between soul and spirit, and targets the heart of a person’s being. When Holy Spirit partners with the artist and imparts His presence into the work, it becomes an instrument of revelation or encounter long after the work was created.

“Prophetic Art for me is powerful and creates an avenue to connect with God. As I grow as an artist in the church, I find myself tapping into the mysterious realm of prophetic art. Have you ever been in a coffee shop to meet with a good friend? The atmosphere is calm, open and warm. Conversations are happy, emotional and best of all comforting. When I am listening to the worship music and allowing myself to be absorbed into the canvas, I try to remove myself. I am removing my thoughts from making the decisions. Rather, I am allowing God to paint through me. It is better to understand that I am not the artist, God is. Focusing to listen is challenging especially when I can be so head strong.
